Meet the Founder: Nobu Sawai is the founder of Sakana Sushi & Grill. Sawai is an Arizona State University alumni. After graduation, he worked in the catering business, then at a teriyaki restaurant. This instilled Sawai’s love for the food business. He saw this as a way to share his Japanese culture with Americans. The hospitality side of what it means to be Japanese is very important to Sawai. They communicate this in the service that is provided at Sakana Sushi & Grill.
