Meet the Veterinarian. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Ann Carvell earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Science in Wellness at the University of Mississippi. She later worked as a Veterinary Technician for five years in Tupelo, Mississippi. In 2003, Dr. Carvell was accepted into Mississippi State’s School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2007 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Carvell then worked in private practice veterinary clinics, shelter medicine, and emergency clinics, as well as private practice spay/neuter clinics before opening Purrfurred Pets in 2015. As a proponent of controlling pet overpopulation, one of Dr. Carvell’s passions is spay/neuter surgery. A “pet mom” herself, Dr. Carvell shares her home with five dogs and one cat.
