A Skill-Based Curriculum. Phoenix Children’s Academy’s academic curriculum is called Ascend and was developed at Phoenix Children’s Academy. Curriculum develops children’s cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and creative abilities through skill-targeted learning. For example, if pre-K is learning about sorting, their math center will focus on sorting as well and so will their other classes. This skill-based approach helps children reach important developmental milestones and teaches them how to solve problems, think critically, and become more independent.
Phoenix Children’s Academy’s teachers progressively introduce essential skills at every age level and then fine-tune the skills needed for success in kindergarten during Kindergarten Club. The goal is for every child in every classroom, even infants, to age out of the program fully prepared for kindergarten.
Kind Child. A key component of Phoenix Children’s Academy’s curriculum and the foundation of their school’s culture is Kind Child. Meet the Director: Angel Madrigal is the director of Phoenix Children’s Academy’s Chandler Dobson school. She has been with PCA for 9 years and says it’s like her home away from home. Working for the company is like working with family, and it’s the same way with the school. For example, new kids are welcomed with an event just for them. Their name is posted on a welcome sign out front.
Angel believes Phoenix Children’s Academy provides a personal touch. The staff develops a strong connection with the families of the students. Furthermore, they are very involved. They hold family events at the school, like snow days with companies from the community donating food and helping out.
