STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE FOR ADDING NEW PROSPECTS TO OUTREACH LIST

• Google BUSINESS TYPE TOWN STATE
• On Google My Business results click on “More places”.
• Start at top of list.
• Make sure business is in the town you are working on and of the business type assigned.
• DO NOT click on or copy anything in the Google Maps window. Open a new tab and manually search for the business name plus city and state. This keeps Google from thinking you are a bot that’s scraping their search results.
• Visit the local business’s website and Facebook briefly to get a feel for the business. If the prospect is a local business, a local business with multiple locations, or a locally owned franchise then proceed. Skip the big national chains.
• Type the business name into the appropriate column in the spreadsheet before proceeding. If the business name auto-fills, then it’s already in our list and you can skip it.
• If there are multiple locations, type the name of the city after the business name like this: Happy Dry Cleaning Gilbert.
• Next, find their email address. Here’s how, in the most efficient order…
  • • Look for the email address manually on their website.
    • Find their Facebook page, go to the About tab and look for their email address.
    • NOTE: If they don’t have either a website or Facebook page, skip them.
    • YP: Do a Google search on business name city state yp, and look for yellow pages results. Right click or mouse over over Email button on their yellow pages page to copy the email address.
    • Manta: (google bizname city state manta) Their email address may be listed under Contact Information on their Manta listing.
    • BBB.org (google bizname city state bbb) Right click or mouse over over Email button on their BBB page to copy the email address.
    • Try registrar contact data https://whois.icann.org/en
    • Go back to company website and use the Hunter Chrome extension (last resort)
    • If you can’t find an email address move on to the next business.
• Verify the email address using QuickEmailVerification.com. If the email address comes back as OK to Send, Role, or Accept All then it’s good. If it comes back Unknown or Invalid then it’s bad. Don’t enter a business in the spreadsheet if you can’t find a good email address.
• After you have a good email address, find their phone number and enter it in the spreadsheet. DO NOT copy it from the Google My Business window, but you can copy it from their FB or website.

NOTE: Run a separate search for each business type in the business group. You may pick up some stragglers this way.

•  Next, search on Facebook. Many small businesses will not show up in Google searches because they do not have websites or their website is poorly optimized. However, many of these businesses do have Facebook pages. After you finish searching Google, go to Facebook and run a search for each business type in the business group that you are working on. Record their Facebook Page address under the WEBSITE column.

When you finish, save the spreadsheet and send it back to us.
