About. One Hot Cookie Bakery, Catering, and Gift Company is proud to be a local family business. Sarah Lavender-Brashear started the business over 20 years ago in St. Peters, Missouri. At that time cookies were the only item on the menu. When the business moved to Marion, Illinois, the menu offerings started to expand. 

After One Hot Cookie relocated to its current home in Murphysboro, Illinois, Sarah decided to change up the menu again. Today, patrons rave over One Hot Cookie’s baked goodies (delicious cookies are still offered), ready-made meals, catering, and special gifts.  At One Hot Cookie Bakery, Catering and Gift Company, there’s truly something for every palate! 

Cookies and Catering. In keeping with their roots, One Hot Cookie Bakery, Catering and Gift Company still offers cookies and catering services to their valued customers. No matter if you’re in the mood for assorted cookies, specialty cut-out cookies, or gourmet cookies, One Hot Cookie has you covered. Planning a special event? They offer catering for breakfast, brunch, and lunch, as well as appetizers, soups and stews, and desserts.  They also do dinner catering, corporate events, weddings, bereavements & any kind of celebration you can think of.

Heat & Eat.  Not a fan of cooking? Are you in a time crunch? One Hot Cookie bakery offers mouth-watering pre-cooked frozen meals that you’re sure to love! With Take & Bake and Heat & Eat options, there’s a meal already prepared no matter whether you’re planning a routine dinner, a family/friend get-together, or a potluck.

What’s more, patrons can enjoy comfort foods without the hassle, prep work, and wait time!

EBT Accepted. One Hot Cookie is proud to now accept the Electronic Benefits Program, or EBT. This is a huge advantage for Southern Illinois residents, because now they can use their EBT to purchase meals that are healthy, nutritious, and well balanced, rather than settling for convenience store foods. Before One Hot Cookie became approved for EBT, there weren’t many other healthy options for area residents, so One Hot Cookie is proud to fill that gap.

Coming Soon. One Hot Cookie Bakery, Catering and Gift Company is always finding new ways to serve their community. They’re ecstatic to soon offer locally-canned products like pickles, okra, salsa, jellies, and jams.

The famous Peanut Roll

Bakery. One Hot Cookie isn’t your typical donut shop…in fact, you won’t find donuts at all! One Hot Cookie’s bakery carries unique desserts, including the Peanut Roll. This 1949 Southern Illinois recipe is quite famous with locals. The peanut roll is a 1949 Baptist Cookbook recipe which starts with sponge cake, iced in homemade vanilla buttercream icing, then generously rolled in chopped salted peanuts. The Peanut Roll is so special and scrumptious that One Hot Cookie ships them all over the country to folks who’ve moved away but still crave a local specialty. Serving up beloved favorites like the Peanut Roll is one of their passions!
