Spend It In Mesa AZ – Nansei Dojo Shinkendo Aikibujutsu main

Traditional Martial Arts. Have you been considering traditional martial arts training? Then stop by Nansei Dojo Shinkendo & Aikibujutsu in Mesa. They are very welcoming to anybody and everybody. Nansei Dojo is all about quality training, not how many students they can pack into the dojo!

Spend It In Mesa AZ – Nansei Dojo Shinkendo Aikibujutsu insetShinkendo is a Japanese Sword Style. While Shinkendo requires rigorous physical training, depth of coordination, and intense focus, one of the most important aspects of Shinkendo is the emphasis on spiritual forging, which inspires “Bushi Damashii” (the Samurai/ warrior spirit), a quality that is as relevant now as it was hundreds of years ago. Proper practice of Shinkendo should provide one with not only a strong body and mind, but also a calm, clear, and focused spirit.

Aikidō (合気道) and Aikibujutsu (合気武術) are Empty-Handed Arts. As such, one utilizes, rather than opposes, the energy or force of an opponent’s attack through techniques such as throws and controls. These arts also incorporate a study of human anatomy and take advantage of joints, balance, pressure points and nerve meridians, and other natural vulnerabilities of the body in order to equip one to overcome even a much stronger enemy. Aikibujutsu is like Aikido, but it is a little more rough and tough.

Uniform—You may wear any martial arts uniform that you now have for your first few classes. Otherwise, wear suitable exercise clothing such as a T-shirt and sweat pants. The required uniform is a basic white martial art uniform with a black hakama. After joining the International Shinkendo Federation, a proper dogi and hakama will be required for class.

Additional Requirements—No martial arts experience or training is required to be a Shinkendo student. If you have any existing health issue or disability, please consult with an instructor in advance of class registration.
