Hobby turned business. Madonna started out as a professional hairdresser in Illinois, and did quilting on the side. When she owned her own salon, she would raffle off one of her quilts each year to raise money for charity. Her customers kept telling her, “Your quilts are so beautiful, you should be doing that instead of hair”.
Sew she did. Her first quilt shop was a bit of a struggle, but she learned a lot. A few years later she moved to Arizona, purchased an existing quilt store, totally rehabbed it, and re-opened as Mad B’s Quilt and Sew.
Mad B’s Quilt and Sew is all new with top of the line lighting in the classroom. They stock the best supplies and materials available including Bernina Sewing Machines which are widely regarded as the Cadillac of the industry.
Best staff in the business. The professional staff at Mad B’s Quilt and Sew are very knowledgeable and friendly. If you ever get stuck on a quilting project, the folks at Mad B’s are sure to have a solution for you. Everyone who works here has years of experience in many different facets of quilting and sewing, and they are happy to share that knowledge with you.
Customer focused. The folks at Mad B’s Quilt and Sew try extra hard to accommodate their customer’s wants and needs. For example if a customer was interested in a particular class but couldn’t make it, Mad B’s will often reschedule it and run that class again. They know that you have choices when it comes to sewing and quilting supplies, products, and classes. They want to make that decision easy for you – Mad B’s!
The most popular tea party in the valley. Mad B’s hosts tea parties once a month. You don’t have to bring anything with you, all materials and equipment are supplied. You’ll be treated to a nice luncheon and you get to do a project. Tea parties are held for two groups of twelve each month and always fill up fast.
That’s not all – not by a long shot! Mad B’s hosts an incredible amount of classes, get togethers, and guided projects to keep you busy all year long. If you ever get bored with sewing or quilting, it’s not Mad B’s fault!
• Blocks of the month. This is year long class where you will make a 12 month quilt. You come in once a month and complete a block. Then at the end you put the blocks together to produce a beautiful hand made quilt of your very own.
• Finish it Friday is a monthly sewing and pot luck. Bring a few friends!
• Open sew is an unstructured laid back time to bring in whatever you are working on and hang out with other sewers. Bring a snack to share. There are no instructors at open sew, but you will find a room full of accomplished sewers that can help you out if you need it.
