Spend It In In The Garden Landscaping & Garden Center in Pittsburg KS insetAbout. John Harrison—owner of In the Garden, along with his wife Michelle—can trace his gardening roots back to when he was just 16 and working in a garden center. While life took him to Pittsburg State University, where he eventually graduated, John realized that returning to his passion and hobby for plants was vital, and In the Garden began! Since 2004, this local and family-owned business has been offering a variety of gardening supplies to serious gardeners and hobbyists around the region and beyond.

The Largest. Every gardener is looking for something unique, which is why having a broad selection to choose from is key. And at In the Garden, that’s just what you’ll find! In fact, In the Garden is the largest garden center/nursery in the “Four State” area, and bigger than anything one would find in Joplin. As a destination garden center, folks drive several hours to visit and find their next favorite flower, gardening tools, or statue. Since In the Garden has the largest section and layout, customers will find that it’s just as nice (or nicer!) than what you’d see in big city shops.

Gorillas. The city of Pittsburg—the home of Pittsburg State University—has lots of school pride…and they’re happy to show it off! Since the school’s mascot is Gus the Gorilla, visitors will find gorilla statues everywhere. If you’re in the market for a gorilla statue to add to your outdoor space, you’re in luck! A wide variety of gorilla statues are available at In the Garden, from small gorillas you can hold to ones that weigh a few thousands pounds.

Landscaping. In the Garden is proud to offer landscaping services! Whether your home or business needs one tree planted or the entire landscape could benefit from some TLC, In the Garden can help. With free consultations and a variety of plants to choose from, your dull outdoor space can turn into an outdoor oasis.

Fourth Street Market. At In the Garden, they offer more than plants or gardening supplies—they’re also a welcoming beacon in the community. That’s why they host Fourth Street Market, a family-oriented event that changes monthly. Just what might you find at the market? Vendors include bakers, crafters, vintage merchants, and so much more.

 In the Garden Reviews

I have shopped at In the Garden for 2-3 years now and can’t believe I haven’t given them a 5-star review yet. I love shopping here. My small Land Management business buys supplies from here and it’s always a pleasure doing business here. Mr. John is a wealth of knowledge and very easy to work with, and the nice ladies at the front desk are very kind a patient. My wife and I also love shopping here around Halloween, they have the best pumpkins and mums in town! We have nothing but good things to say and will always recommend!” -Adam B.

“A lovely little nursery. I always find quality plants here as well as fellow plant people, a pleasure every time. They have some really cute, cool and interesting things in the gift shop/checkout foyer.
