About. Framin Works was established by Dorothy Buer as a franchise with six Phoenix Stores. In 1974, the franchise went private and operated as a co-op. Fast-forward to 1996 when Alan, the current owner, purchased the store from Dorothy and ever since has been dedicated to providing top-notch services to his customers.
Alan has a degree in graphic design, and he even worked in the picture framing industry to finance his college. The fact that Framin Works went from a 2,000 square foot shop with two employees to an 8,000 square foot shop with eight employees attests to Alan’s dedication to high-quality framing experiences and top-notch customer service. For Alan, he considers a large part of his growth was due to surrounding himself with great people!
Accolades. Framin Works has won many “Best of Phoenix” awards throughout the years and is a member of the Professional Picture Framers Association. In fact, Alan has served on their competition and education boards. What’s more, Alan is a Certified Picture Framer, which is a difficult accreditation to achieve.

Framin Works Reviews
“I had Framin’ Works frame 3 paintings for me. Not only did they do a beautiful job, but they got them done faster than they promised. When I could not fit the large one into my car, Alan, the owner, was kind enough to drive it over in his van. Highly recommended.” -Mark M.
“Was looking for a place to frame some vintage Houdini articles for my hobbyist-magician husband. Photos don’t do these justice – they did an incredible job with the damage that was present on the edges of the articles. They gave great suggestions when I wasn’t sure about color/matting/etc. Will be using them again in the future!” -Samantha C.
“Thank you so much!!! This looks absolutely incredible, and I don’t regret spending extra for the museum glass. No glare, even right under the lights!! I am so happy this will look stunning in my livingroom. …” -A.
“I got a large canvas world map for Christmas and wanted to get the map stretched over a frame. I was nervous about getting the right frame shop because I really didn’t want to mess up my map. I called a bunch of spots but only Framin had the customer service and experience to help me understand over the phone what they were going to do to my map. That made me feel comfortable enough to drive on over and get a quote. It was $140 bucks to get a 43″x27″ map. Totally worth it for the value I got. They were even able to put a cork board underneath so I could put pins in the map. It was so cool! My wall looks amazing now thanks to Framin Works! So cool!” -Joash O.
“I wouldn’t take my projects any place else in the valley than Framin’ Works. I recently did a restoration project on some old windows and had a few hiccups with how old they were. Josh got me set up right as rain with some beautiful framing for delicate pieces of wood. These guys are THE best.” -Wesley R.
