Meet the Owner: Brendy Collado, owner of Desert Breeze Assisted Living, is originally from the Philippines. Filipinos are accustomed to taking care of their elders; it’s part of their culture. For Brendy, care giving was a natural career choice. He noticed that many assisted living facilities were high on amenities, but lacking in quality of care. He saw a need in Arizona, especially during the winter season when many elderly people visit the area.

Brendy encourages potential residents to tour all of the Desert Breeze homes in the valley, including the following Chandler locations: 4124 W Bart Dr., 1080 S Amber St., and 823 S Marie Dr.

Brendy wants you to ask questions and get a feel for what living there will be like. He believes providing 24-hour care is a difficult job. If you don’t love it, you can’t be good at it. Brendy adds, “What’s in the heart is important.”

“I had to move my mom from an inferior assisted living home recently; and after a long, thorough search I found Desert Breeze Assisted Living. The owners, Wilma and Brendy Collado, spent time with me on the phone to understand my mom’s needs, as well as when I toured two of their homes (they have three) in Chandler. The homes are spacious, beautifully decorated, cozy, and comfortable. We ended up choosing a room at their 1080 S Amber home. The caregivers are friendly, kind, and go out of their way to take care of my mom. At her last home, she never left her room or ate in the dining room (she’s in early dementia). Here, she spends her days in “her own” recliner in a family room watching TV and playing games on her tablet. She eats every (home–cooked) meal at the table. My brothers and I are amazed at the difference the Desert Breeze care has made in her behavior. It’s so comforting to us knowing that my mom has the best of care, especially after a year in a subpar house.
