About Karen. Avon Scottsdale owner, Karen Meyer, started an Avon business in California, when she was a young mother of 5 in 1992. Later, her daughters grew up and started becoming interested in makeup. Some even started their own Avon business. Sadly, in 1983, Karen had an accident and was badly burned on 1/3 of her body. As a result of her accident, Karen had a lot of scarring. Even though she had gone through 2 surgeries, they only reduced her scars—they didn’t eliminate them.
It was actually an Avon product, called Anew (alpha hydroxy acid) that worked to reduce her scars. In fact, Karen says, “…I turned to ANEW which after using on a regular regimen, slowly but surely started repairing my skin and dissolving the scar tissue.” Eventually, Karen moved to Phoenix, where she married her high school sweetheart and restarted her Avon business.
More than Makeup. Thanks to Karen’s large clientele, she was able to successfully navigate her business through the pandemic. Part of this is probably due to the fact that Avon isn’t just makeup—it’s a personal shopper experience.
Other Products. Unlike some makeup, Avon is great for older folks, since it’s not just makeup and foundation. In fact, Avon offers arthritis medicine and other healthcare items, such as dental floss, toothbrushes, and other personal healthcare items they can order.
