About Brighter View Foundation. Brighter View Foundation’s founder, Shantoya Thomas, notes that it’s always the mission and heart of her foundation to give back and build a community. At the heart of Brighter View Foundation is helping individuals by giving them hope and training that can aid them throughout their life.
Brighter View Foundation is dedicated to “Inspiring Positive Impact!”
Community. Brighter View Foundation has in-house training at the community center, while giving individuals hands-on experiences. For example, someone might read a book, but, without real world experiences, they’ll find it difficult to apply the material they learned via written sources. Shantoya says, “That’s where I feel a lot of people kind of get thrown off.”
Brighter View Foundation will help you with something like a fitness class, cooking class, or business development class. Plus, they’ll help you locate a nice outfit at the thrift store so that you’ll look presentable. Brighter View Foundation breaks down barriers, so that those former barriers now don’t look so big. Shantoya says, “Sometimes, it’s that simple.”
Miracles Boutique. Miracles Boutique is a brick-and-mortar thrift store that is open to the public and anchors the Brighter View Foundation campus. The thrift store’s main mission? Helping individuals with disabilities or at-risk youth develop job skills in a “real-world” way. Shantoya calls it, “Removing barriers to opportunity.” Plus, the sales from the thrift store go back to the foundation, furthering the Brighter View Foundation’s mission.
About Shantoya Thomas. Shantoya is both passionate and a caregiver at heart. She works with adults who have disabilities at group homes. She also works in the foster care system because she feels like those individuals may automatically feel less valued because of their situation. When you’re able to walk in an environment and teach them something, it nurtures them. “That makes a difference,” Shantoya points out.
