Meet the Owner. Fortis Gymnastics owner, E.G. Hathaway, and his wife were running a gymnastic program for someone else, and they were doing all of the work. Thus, the Hathaways decided that, if they were running a place for someone else, they should open their own gymnastics center. What’s more, E.G. felt like he had a system that would work better, based on aspects like science, trial, error, etc.
Basically, E.G. wanted to freely test out that system, without being in the confines of someone else’s system (which they may or may not agree with). Being under someone else’s control was not good for E.G. creatively. Plus, it wasn’t good for the ownership because he felt that if he worked for someone, he was obligated to follow their mission and training principles. E.G. adds, “So I just wanted to prove to ourselves and the community that our system would work, and we did that with Fortis Gymnastics.”
